Terms of Service

Eligibility

You must be 18 years of age or older and a U.S. resident to create an account. International expansion is planned for a future release.

Membership, billing & cancellation

• Plans are billed annually or monthly as selected. A one‑time $25 card registration fee applies to all tiers.
• You may cancel anytime from your account. Upon cancellation, your vault and its contents are permanently deleted.
• Reward points have no cash value and may be redeemed only against eligible renewals, up to 50% of the annual fee per year.

Vault ownership

You own all content you place in your vault. DepartingNotes claims no ownership over your letters, documents, or photos. You grant us only the limited license necessary to store and, upon verified passing, deliver that content to your designated recipients.

Platform ownership

DepartingNotes Co. owns all platform intellectual property, including software, design, and branding.

Death verification

Release of vault contents is triggered only when an executor submits a valid death certificate that our team verifies (typically within 24–48 hours). We may place a submission on hold or reject it if we suspect fraud or incomplete documentation.

Limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is." To the fullest extent permitted by law, DepartingNotes Co. is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from use of the platform.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California.
